Questions about customer support tools

Will an AI agent actually resolve tickets, or just deflect them?

Ask how the vendor bills. Fin charges per resolution, which aligns its incentive with yours and makes the number auditable; deflection rate is a metric that improves when customers give up. Whatever the pricing, the answers come from your help centre and past tickets — a thin knowledge base produces a thin agent.

Do I have to replace my helpdesk to add AI?

No. Fin runs on top of Zendesk and Salesforce as well as Intercom, so adopting it is not also a migration. Zendesk AI is built into Zendesk, and ThriveDesk is the whole helpdesk with the agent included. Which fits depends on whether you already have a platform you are happy with.

What should never be handed to an AI agent?

Anything where being wrong is expensive: refunds outside policy, account deletion, security questions, and any customer who has already said they are unhappy. Every tool here supports escalation for a reason, and the rollouts that go badly are the ones where the escalation path was an afterthought.
