Zendesk AI

AI agents and agent-assist copilot built into Zendesk

The AI layer inside the Zendesk help desk — autoreply agents that resolve tickets end to end plus a Copilot that drafts replies and summarizes conversations for human agents.

Zendesk AI is the set of AI features built into the Zendesk help desk rather than a separate product: AI agents that resolve simple, repetitive tickets on their own, and a Copilot that sits alongside human agents drafting replies and summarizing long threads. It’s aimed at support teams who are already running Zendesk and want to cut ticket volume and average handle time without switching platforms.

The AI agents are strongest on scripted, high-frequency requests — order status, password resets, basic account questions — where a clear answer already exists in the knowledge base. Copilot’s value shows up further into a shift, when an agent is buried in threads and just needs a competent first draft or a three-line summary of a long back-and-forth rather than having to read the whole thing.

Where it gets complicated is cost. Zendesk’s pricing is layered: a per-agent Suite fee, an optional Copilot add-on, and separate outcome-based charges for AI agent resolutions, and none of those numbers combine into one clean sticker price — most teams end up paying meaningfully more per agent than the advertised entry price once AI features are switched on. It’s worth budgeting for the full stack, not just the base plan, before rolling it out widely.

Features

AI agents

Handle full conversations end to end on messaging and email, escalating to a human when a request falls outside what they're trained on.

Copilot

Drafts reply suggestions, summarizes long threads and surfaces relevant help-center articles for human agents mid-conversation.

Intelligent triage

Automatically reads incoming tickets to route by intent, sentiment and priority before an agent ever opens them.

Quality management

Scores conversations automatically across the whole volume rather than the sample a QA lead had time to read.

Knowledge generation

Turns resolved tickets into help centre articles, closing the loop that usually leaves the same question being answered forever.

Workforce management

Forecasts volume and staffs against it, using the ticket history the platform already holds.

Use cases

  • Auto-resolving common tickets like order status or password resets
  • Giving human agents drafted replies instead of blank-page responses
  • Routing and prioritizing incoming tickets without manual triage rules
  • Scoring every conversation automatically instead of a hand-picked sample
  • Turning resolved tickets into help centre articles
  • Spotting a spike in one issue type before it becomes a backlog
