Ruled lines under two sine waves that will not agree.

Colour

Leaves the backdrop unpainted so the pattern drops onto any surface. Ridgeline and Iso Cube Grid still paint the colour above, because it is what hides the shapes behind them.

How it works

Horizontal lines displaced by two sine waves whose wavelengths do not divide into one another, with a phase offset added per line so the family shears as it descends. A single wave would give every line the same fixed nodes and the sheet would gather into a few dark seams; two incommensurate waves never repeat over the width, so the crests drift out of step and the fabric keeps folding somewhere new. The gathers you see are not drawn — they are where neighbouring lines happen to converge.
