Make draws a workflow the way most people actually think about one: as a map, with modules connected by visible lines showing where data goes, where it branches, and where it loops back. That’s the core difference from a linear automation tool — a scenario with five conditional branches is something you can look at and understand, not something you have to trace step by step.

It suits builders comfortable with a bit more structure in exchange for handling genuinely complex logic — data transformations, multi-branch conditionals, iterating over collections — that a simple trigger-action tool struggles with. Credit-based pricing also tends to be more forgiving than per-task billing once a workflow runs at real volume.

The canvas that makes complex scenarios legible also makes simple ones feel like more setup than necessary, and the app catalogue, while large, is smaller than Zapier’s for niche or regional tools. A scenario with many branches can also get visually cluttered enough that a monitoring alert or a broken module takes real effort to trace back to its source.
