Clearscope

Content grading built on NLP term analysis

A content optimization tool that grades drafts against top-ranking pages, recommending terms and topics to cover for a keyword, with Google Docs and WordPress integration.

Clearscope reads the pages already ranking for a keyword, runs them through an NLP engine, and returns the terms, phrases and questions that show up across them. A writer works against that list inside Google Docs or WordPress, watching a grade update as the draft fills in the gaps.

It’s built for content teams that brief out writing to freelancers or junior writers and need a shared, objective standard for “did this cover the topic.” The term list replaces a lot of back-and-forth that would otherwise happen over editorial notes, and the grade gives an editor something concrete to check against before publishing.

The tool has no opinion on whether the writing is actually good — a page can hit every recommended term and still read as padded or repetitive if the writer optimizes for the grade rather than the reader. Pricing is also entirely on the credit system: teams that publish in bursts can find themselves buying add-ons mid-cycle rather than smoothing usage across the month.

Features

Content reports

An NLP-derived term list for a target keyword, drawn from what's already ranking in the live search results.

Content grading

A letter grade plus a readability score, updated live as a draft is written or edited.

Google Docs & WordPress integration

Grading appears inline in the tools writers already use, instead of a separate app to check.

AI Tracked Topics

Monitors how a brand shows up in ChatGPT and Gemini answers, alongside its position in classic search.

Keyword discovery

Builds the target list itself from seed terms and existing rankings, rather than assuming a keyword has already been chosen elsewhere.

Content inventory

Tracks every published page against its target term, which is what turns a refresh backlog into a ranked list rather than a guess.

Use cases

  • Briefing a freelance writer with a concrete term list instead of a vague topic
  • Grading a draft against competitors before publishing
  • Tracking whether existing content still covers what's ranking as a SERP shifts
  • Deciding which existing pages to refresh first from a ranked inventory
  • Holding an agency's whole writer pool to one shared quality bar
  • Proving to a client that a delivered draft met an objective standard
