Questions about legal tools

Harvey or Spellbook?

Size decides it. Harvey is built around a large firm’s own precedent and priced as an enterprise contract to match. Spellbook lives inside Word and is aimed at in-house teams and smaller firms reviewing contracts against a playbook. A five-person legal department gets further with Spellbook; a firm with a knowledge management function does not.

Is the output safe to send without review?

No, and both vendors say so. These accelerate drafting, review and research — first-pass redlines, deviations from a playbook, a summary of an inbound contract. The professional judgement, and the liability attached to it, does not move.

Why are general assistants not listed here?

Because grounding is the whole point. ChatGPT and Claude are perfectly capable of reading a contract; what they cannot do is check it against your firm’s accepted positions and precedent. That grounding is what these two are sold for, and it is why they cost what they cost.
